Get To Know Christie

Christie’s story….

A native New Yorker, Chris discovered Speech Language Pathology while living in Portland, Oregon at the turn of the century. With a background in biology, a passion for activism, and the energy of a new college grad, Chris was exploring the fields of social work and social justice while waiting tables and working at a special education preschool in a low income community. That is when she met her first SLP, who was helping a 3 year old with multiple psychosocial barriers and motor speech challenges learn to talk. After years of strumming guitar and slinging chocolate pies, Chris had finally found a helping profession that incorporated social justice, language, and biology! She enrolled in a graduate program back in NYC and has been lucky enough to work with a variety of kids and adults for the past couple of decades.
